Ingredients

4 cups thinly sliced
potatoes

3 tablespoons of
butter
- ·
3 tablespoons of
flour
- ·
1 1⁄2 cup milk
- ·
1 teaspoon of salt
- ·
1 dash of cayenne
pepper
- ·
1 c sharp cheddar
cheese
- · 1⁄2 cup shredded cheese, to sprinkle on top
Instructions
Melt the butter in a small
pot, then toss in the flour. Allow to relax for a moment.
Step 2
While whisking, add all of
the cold milk. Add salt and cayenne pepper to taste.
Step 3
Cook sauce over low heat,
whisking occasionally, until it is smooth and boiling.
Step 4
Add the cheese while
lowering the heat.
Step 5
In a quart pan that has been
lightly oiled, add half of the potato slices. Potatoes should receive half of
the cheese sauce.
Step 6
Repeat with the second layer
of cheese sauce and potatoes. Top with the remaining cheese.
Step 7
Add some paprika to the
garnish for color.
Step 8
At 350°F, bake uncovered for
about an hour.
